About Karen

I was born in Massachusetts and have lived there for most of my life.  Although I have always loved to draw, there were many years during my late teens and twenties where I created very little artwork as I was focusing on my studies and work in psychology and education.  In my late 20's, I discovered the work of some very talented colored pencil artists which inspired me to try to learn this medium.  Throughout my life, I have been especially drawn to children's book illustration and I attained a certificate in illustration from the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts as a young adult. Colored pencil eventually led me to explore other media and in 2020, I started working most frequently with pastels.  I am eternally grateful to my family and friends who have always supported and encouraged my pursuit of art.
